Amfas focuses on each customer and their unique needs. Our engineers have extensive experience in the LED lighting industry, understanding fully the ins and outs of LED lighting component manufacturing.

The Amfas engineering team can support your products with:

  • Thermal management solutions to improve the heat dissipation of the LEDs or your power supply.
  • Application of the coating compatible for the environment it will be exposed to whether indoors, outdoors or off-shore.
  • Molded lens covers for light distribution or chemical shielding
  • Custom mounting configurations
  • Providing the metal core printed circuit boards to extract the heat of the LEDs
  • Lowering the cost of your overall design

OUR CAPABILITIES

Amfas has had the privilege of working with some of the top LED Lighting OEMs in the world over the past 15 years. Our customers count on us to provide quality components at a great value, allowing them to focus on their core business and not the headaches of manufacturing and supply chain. We supply the following:

Explosion Proof Enclosures

Hazardous location equipment is used in many industries. Enclosures breathe when pressure changes, due to fluctuation in temp and atmospheric pressure. Flammable vapors in the surrounding area can enter an enclosure through the joints creating an explosive mixture. The enclosure is built to withstand the pressure of the explosion without rupturing and submitting the explosion to the surrounding atmosphere through its joints.

An enclosure is usually made of a cast alloy. Thick walls are part of the design and joints are threaded or machined flat.

Corrosion Resistance

Our team has extensive experience producing Aluminum castings used in hazardous and highly corrosive environments such as; Oil and Gas Lighting, Industrial Lighting, Marine/Offshore Lighting, and Food processing facility lighting.

Amfas has dedicated furnaces and casting machines for Low Copper Content A360 alloy components, containing less than 0.4% copper content.

High Thermal Applications – Advanced Alloys

We are proud to offer two new advancements in aluminum cast alloy technology that address two key requirements of the next generation industry, high strength cast alloy and high thermal/electrical conductive cast alloy.

Both of these alloys are comparable to wrought alloys with the flexibility of the casting process, making these exceptionally good solutions for the products of the future.

Aluminum extrusions serve multiple purposes in LED lighting applications, both thermal and mechanical. Aluminum extrusions play a critical role in dissipating heat from LED lights. The extrusions use “cooling” fins that act as integrated heat sinks. Thermal managements of LEDs is key in preserving light quality and longevity. Extrusions will also act as reflectors for some lighting designs.

Amfas offers custom aluminum extrusions for aluminum alloys 1070, 6005, 6061, 6063, 6082, as well as special alloys. Extrusion profiles measure up to 300mm in CCD (Circumscribing Circle Diameter) and extrusion length up to 7 meters. We can provide powder coating or anodizing finishes, color matched to your choice, up to profiles of 7 meters in length.

Amfas provides a wide range of stamped metal parts using many stamping methods. Primarily, we  provide parts made from progressive stamping dies, punch press stampings, single-stage dies, and deep-drawn parts from transfer presses. Most importantly, we will advise the most cost-effective process for your application or part.

We supply a wide variety of sheet metal accessories for a variety of lighting applications.

Amfas can provide molded and extruded polycarbonate or acrylic lens covers to meet your application.

Lenses made from acrylic are durable, but they are not the most durable option. The best quality of acrylic is that they do not yellow overtime when subjected to UV light. Acrylic also has better chemical resistance for the applications in which this is required.

Polycarbonate lens’ have poorer clarity than acrylic, which makes them diffuse light. They will also fade over time when exposed to UV light. The reason polycarbonate is used is because it is extremely durable, which is why it is more likely to be used for industrial applications.

While printed circuit boards (PCBs) made using FR4 or G10 are common today, Amfas can also supply metal core boards for LED lighting applications. High-power LED lighting produces a significant amount of heat and the PCBs are usually mounted directly near the lights. Heat dissipation is key in maintaining performance of the electronic devices and for longevity of the light.

Metal core PCBs incorporates a metal as its base as opposed to the traditional FR4, for the heat spreading fragment of the board. Heat builds up from some electronic components during operation of the board. The purpose of the metal base is to divert this heat away from critical components. Aluminum has good heat transferring and dissipation abilities, while copper has even better performance but is more expensive. Metals are typically Aluminum 5052, Aluminum 6061, or Copper C1100. We are familiar with the specific needs of these markets; and have successfully supported some of the fastest growing customers with short lead times and rapidly increasing volumes.
